Terms of Service

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms of Service set forth the conditions and procedures governing use of the sermon-passage research report service provided by Didymus Lab (the "Service"), as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of members and the Service operator.

Article 2 (Definitions)

1. "The Service" means the entirety of the sermon-passage research report production and delivery service provided by the Company.
2. "Member" means a person who registers through Kakao or Google account authentication and uses the Service.
3. "The Company" means the business operator that provides the Didymus Lab service.
4. "Report" means the PDF research material the Company provides for a Bible passage requested by a member, including original-language analysis, academic materials, fine-art and sacred-art images, related maps, and similar content.
5. "Request" means a member's submission of a Bible passage and sermon-related information for the production of a report.
6. "Guest" means a member who has completed registration but has not subscribed to a recurring plan; upon registration, the member receives one full Standard-grade research report free of charge.
7. "Recurring Subscription Plan" means a monthly-billed tier of Service usage, such as Standard, Premium, Platinum, and Prestige; the depth and scope of materials included in the research report vary according to the member's tier. (The former Lite tier was closed to new subscriptions by the amendment of August 28, 2026; existing Lite subscribers are governed by the transitional provisions in the Addendum.)
8. "Per-Item Purchase" means a method of use whereby a guest member purchases a report on a single-item basis without a recurring subscription; reports are offered at the Standard, Premium, or Platinum grade depending on the level of materials.

Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of the Terms)

1. These Terms take effect when they are posted on the Service screen or otherwise notified to members.
2. The Company may amend these Terms for reasonable cause, and shall give notice at least 7 days before the effective date of any amendment.
3. A member who does not agree to the amended Terms may discontinue use of the Service and withdraw membership.

Article 4 (Membership Registration)

1. Membership registration is completed through Kakao or Google account authentication. At registration, the member must enter their name and affiliated church, and may also enter an invitation code.
2. A member may register for the Service with one Kakao or Google account.
3. By registering, the member is deemed to have agreed to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
4. The member must provide accurate information; providing false information may result in restriction of Service use.
5. Registration is permitted only once per Kakao or Google account, and an account may not be shared with or transferred to another person.

Article 5 (Service Content)

1. For a Bible passage requested by a member, the Company provides a report containing the following: original-language (Hebrew and Greek) analysis, a synthesis of academic commentaries and papers, historical, cultural, and archaeological background, and related fine-art and sacred-art images and maps. The composition and depth of the report, however, vary according to the member's plan.
2. Passage Recommendation Mode — in which, instead of specifying a passage, the member describes the message they wish to convey and the Company suggests two suitable passages and provides a report for each — is available only to members on the Premium tier or above. It is not available to Standard members, guests, free-tier members, or newly registered members.
3. A report is ordinarily provided within 24 hours after the request is received. If delivery is delayed, for example due to a high volume of requests, the member will be notified separately.
4. Service operating days are Korean business days. For requests made on Saturdays, Sundays, or Korean statutory public holidays (including substitute and temporary holidays), the member may select one of two options: ① Use a Weekend/Holiday Request Pass — the request is processed within 24 hours from submission. One pass and one regular subscription request are deducted. ② Next-Business-Day Processing — no special pass is deducted, only one regular subscription request is deducted, and the request enters the queue after midnight on the first business day following the entire weekend or holiday period. The public-holiday policy takes effect September 1, 2026.
5. Reports are provided in PDF form, and members may download them through the portal. The viewing period for past materials varies by plan (Standard and Premium: 1 year; Prestige: unlimited).
6. AI (Claude, by Anthropic) is used as a core component in producing reports. A report's content is classified by its method of generation as follows: (a) The expressive portions of academic citations and commentary materials are quoted only from a verified database built directly by the Company, which contains only openly licensed materials (CC-BY, CC0, Public Domain). No non-existent sources or verses are generated. (b) For certain academic papers, the report provides bibliographic information supplied by public academic APIs such as OpenAlex (author, title, journal, year, pages, DOI), together with a single factual statement describing one core claim, finding, or perspective presented in that paper. The Company does not reproduce the text of a paper's abstract, or any condensed expression or argumentative structure thereof, in the body of the report, nor does it store the original abstract in its database. The materials provided under this paragraph are limited to facts and ideas not protected by copyright law (the idea–expression dichotomy). Members who wish to review a paper's specific expression, argumentation, or detailed content are encouraged to access the original text directly through the DOI link shown in the report. (c) Analytical content generated directly by AI—such as the historical and cultural background of the passage, original-language analysis, and sermon drafts (Prestige)—may contain errors characteristic of AI. The Company's review focuses on items (b) and (c) and is conducted on a best-effort basis. Members are encouraged to verify core content directly against the original sources. (d) A report may include sermon illustrations matched to the passage and theme, on a tier-differentiated basis, classified and labeled in two kinds. (i) True-account illustrations — drawn from real events, persons, and facts reported in news, broadcasts, published works, or films; the Company extracts only the factual gist, which copyright law does not protect, and independently restates it without reproducing or storing the original expression (sentences, dialogue, or description) — the same idea–expression basis as item (b). The source (medium, title, year) is noted in the report, and members wishing to review the specific expression or detail are encouraged to consult the original directly. (ii) Crafted illustrations — not a specific real event, but an example newly composed in a plausible manner to explain the passage or theme, expressly labeled a "crafted illustration." The Company attaches no fabricated real names, sources, or dates to such an illustration, and members are encouraged not to present it as a true account in preaching.
7. Depending on the active operating route, one or more of Anthropic PBC's Claude and OpenAI, L.L.C.'s Codex may be used in the report-generation, evidence-audit, and revision stages. The categories of information processed by each provider, overseas-transfer details, and refusal procedures are governed by the Privacy Policy.
8. Notes and other free-text report-request content on every plan are stored in encrypted form.
9. In the course of producing a report, objective academic analysis data about a Bible passage (original-language vocabulary, grammatical parsing, syntactic structure, translation comparisons, and similar data) is cached on the server in a form that cannot identify any individual member, and may be reused when processing another member's request for the same passage. This cache (a) does not include any member's request content, sermon context, personal information, or additional request notes; (b) is limited to public academic data about the Bible passage itself; and (c) applies content differences by member tier separately. The cache is intended to improve the Service's response speed and operational efficiency, and does not affect the quality of any report.

Article 6 (Fees and Payment)

1. Upon registering for the Service, a member is assigned to the Guest tier by default and receives one full Standard-grade research report free of charge. When a new member registers with a member referral code beginning with REF-, both the referring member and the new member receive one additional Core Edition report. Benefits attached to other invitation, affiliate, or promotion codes follow the separately stated conditions of those programs.
2. In addition to the new-member benefit, a Guest (non-subscribing) member receives one free Core Edition report per month. The Core Edition focuses on original-language analysis, historical and cultural background, multiple interpretive perspectives, and verse-by-verse commentary, and omits the extended modules of the full report. This monthly benefit is not granted during the member's registration quota window; it begins with the following window. If unused within a window, it does not carry over and expires.
3. If a member withdraws and later re-registers using the same account (Kakao or Google), the registration free trial, referral bonus, and any promotional benefits are not granted again. This measure is intended to prevent fraudulent use, such as repeatedly obtaining free credits.
4. Without a recurring subscription, a guest member may purchase reports on a per-item basis by selecting the desired level of materials, as follows (the depth and scope of the research report vary according to the selected level):
   • • Standard grade: USD 19 per item.
   • • Premium grade: USD 29 per item.
   • • Platinum grade: USD 49 per item.
5. For a per-item purchase, once a member selects the level of materials on the request form and submits a purchase inquiry, the Company provides bank account information by email. After payment is confirmed, the corresponding usage credit is granted to the member's account, and the member may submit one request using that credit. The credit has no expiration date and is consumed only upon submitting a request.
6. Recurring subscription plans are offered as follows. The monthly request limit is the same on every tier (4 reports per month, or 5 in a billing cycle — from the billing date to the day before the next — that contains five Sundays); what varies by tier is the depth and scope of materials included in the research report (original-language grammatical and syntactic commentary, primary sources, patristic interpretation, history of preaching and reception history, related maps, number of interpretive perspectives, supplementary sources, and the like) together with the additional benefits stated below:
   • • Standard: USD 25/month (4 reports per month). All sermon types; 1 free follow-up research volume per month (does not use a monthly request; unused volumes do not carry over); My Sermon Profile (sermon library of up to 30 files, profile applied to reports).
   • • Premium: USD 49/month (4 reports per month). All sermon types; Passage Recommendation Mode; 1 Weekend/Holiday Request Pass per month; 2 free follow-up research volumes per month (same conditions); priority processing; My Sermon Profile (library of up to 50 files; profile applied to reports, follow-up research and derivative materials; repeat-passage detection and sermon calendar).
   • • Prestige: USD 79/month (4 reports per month). All sermon types; 2 Weekend/Holiday Request Passes per month; 3 free follow-up research volumes per month (same conditions); top-priority processing and a dedicated hotline (first reply within 2 hours for messages received in support hours, Mon–Fri 09:00–18:00 KST, or within an hour of the next opening); My Sermon Profile (library of up to 100 files; profile applied to every section (research content stays neutral); version comparison, tuning and report-usage learning; sermon skeleton draft in the member's voice, once per report).
7. Recurring subscription members may purchase additional Weekend/Holiday Request Passes, and may request reports exceeding the monthly limit at the per-item price corresponding to the member's tier, at the applicable prices shown on the pricing page at the time of purchase.
8. For members in the United States / English pricing region, fees are denominated and charged in U.S. dollars (USD). The applicable plans, per-item grades, and amounts are those shown on the pricing page at the time of purchase.
9. The only long-term discount is the annual prepayment discount: a member who prepays 12 months at once by bank transfer receives 20% off the list price for that year. There is no other loyalty or duration-based automatic discount. The regular monthly subscription is not a fixed-term commitment: there is no upfront lump-sum payment and no cancellation penalty, the member is charged for one month at a time, and may cancel at any time with nothing owed. If an annual prepayment is cancelled mid-term, the months already elapsed are not refunded and the remaining months' share is refunded, less a penalty, in accordance with the refund policy.
10. The Beta Founder discount is granted, following the Company's confirmation (lock-in) procedure, only to members who begin a recurring subscription (excluding the Light tier) within a first-come, first-served quota and application period previously announced by the Company, and permanently applies the announced discount rate to the monthly fee of the confirmed tier. From September 22, 2026, however, it applies only to the monthly fee of the Premium and Prestige tiers and not to the Standard tier (see the Addendum announced September 14, 2026). This discount is a benefit valid only while the subscription remains active without interruption; it is forfeited immediately if the member cancels the subscription or the subscription ends due to payment failure or other reasons. Once forfeited, the Beta Founder discount is not restored upon re-registration or resumption of the subscription, and the then-current standard fee, or any separate promotion in effect at that time, applies instead.
11. Using a Weekend/Holiday Request Pass, a member can receive a report within 24 hours from a request made on a weekend or Korean statutory public holiday. Without a pass, the request remains accepted, only one regular subscription request is deducted, and processing begins after midnight on the first business day after the holiday period.
12. The monthly request limit renews in 30-day cycles from the registration reference date.
13. One request covers one chapter, regardless of verse count (all plans); a passage spanning two chapters uses two requests. Passages of 41+ verses are produced with the same structure as a regular report for the plan (every plan section and every chosen option included); because the text is long, the verse commentary is grouped into 4–8 pericopes and the interlinear covers up to 8 selected key verses.
14. Payment is made through the payment methods provided at checkout, and the Company issues an appropriate receipt or tax document.
15. The Company shall notify members one month in advance of any change to Service fees. Changed fees apply only to new purchases and renewals made after the notice, and do not affect recurring subscriptions or per-item purchases for which payment has already been completed.

Article 7 (Refunds and Termination of Contract)

1. Any recurring subscription member may request termination of the Service at any time, and upon termination a refund is made in proportion to the number of unused requests for the current month.
2. A member may choose "Annual Prepay" — paying 12 months of the subscription fee at once, by bank transfer only, for a 20% discount off the list price — instead of the standard monthly charge. Annual Prepay is a payment method only; the monthly request allowance and other terms of the Service remain the same as under a regular subscription. If Annual Prepay is terminated early, the refund is calculated under the following formula instead of paragraph 1 above: months already elapsed (with any partial month rounded up to a full month, capped at 12) are not refunded, and the refund equals the remaining months' share of the amount paid less an early-cancellation penalty of 10% of that remaining share. If the result is less than ₩0, the refund is ₩0.
3. A guest member's per-item purchase may be canceled at any time before payment is confirmed. After payment is confirmed (the credit is granted), a full refund is available only if the credit has not yet been used. Once a request has been submitted using the credit, no refund is made.
4. Fees for reports already provided are non-refundable.
5. In the following cases, the Company may immediately terminate the Service without any refund, and its right to claim damages under Article 8 survives such termination:
   • • Reselling a report for commercial purposes without authorization
   • • Removing, altering, or circumventing the technical protection measures of a report
   • • Sharing an account with, or transferring it to, another person
   • • Producing a similar service based on a report, or infringing the Company's trade secrets
   • • Otherwise materially violating these Terms
6. If the Company discontinues the Service, it will give one month's prior notice and refund the full amount of any unused fees.

Article 8 (Copyright in Reports and Scope of Use)

1. Copyright in the reports provided by the Company belongs to the Company, and the member is granted a right of use within the following scope:
   • • Use as private reference material, limited to the member's own sermon preparation and ministry activities where the member personally delivers the sermon
   • • Citing or referencing report content within the sermon
   This right of use is granted for the private use of a single member; use for any other purpose (such as preparing on behalf of another minister, fulfilling outsourced production commissions, or producing seminary lecture materials) requires separate consultation.
2. The following acts are expressly prohibited:
   • • Providing, selling, or sharing the original report, or a substantial portion of it, with another person
   • • Producing or selling a similar service based on a report
   • • Posting a report online without authorization
   • • Removing, altering, or circumventing the technical protection measures included in a report (watermarks, digital fingerprints, metadata, and the like)
   • • Sharing an account with another person, or using a single account among multiple persons
3. A member who commits any of the prohibited acts in the preceding paragraph shall bear the following responsibilities:
   • • Compensation for the actual damages the Company incurs as a result of the violation
   • • Where actual damages are difficult to assess, an amount equivalent to the monthly fee of the relevant plan per leaked report shall serve as the minimum basis for damages
   • • Where the act constitutes infringement of trade secrets, such as producing or selling a similar service, civil and criminal liability under the Unfair Competition Prevention and Trade Secret Protection Act
4. Reports carry technical protection measures that can identify the member to whom they were issued (watermarks, digital fingerprints, and the like). The member acknowledges that such measures exist and agrees not to remove, alter, or circumvent them.
5. The academic content in a report is not a direct reproduction of the original works, but an independent summary, restructuring, and analysis produced using AI. The academic materials the Company references are limited to openly licensed materials (CC-BY, CC0, Public Domain); non-openly-licensed materials (commercial journals, subscription materials, and materials of unverified license) are not used. The attribution obligation for CC-BY materials is satisfied through source attribution within the report. This policy does not rely on fair use, but rests primarily on license compliance.
6. Bible translations quoted in a report are cited in compliance with the terms of use and fair-use scope of each translation.
7. The sacred-art and fine-art images in a report are public domain or duly licensed materials, and the copyright and holding information for each individual image is indicated within the report.
8. User Indemnification: If a member violates these Terms (in particular the prohibited acts in Article 8, paragraph 2) and thereby causes harm to a third party, or if a third party consequently brings a claim, lawsuit, notice, or the like against the Company, the member shall indemnify the Company for all damages it bears (settlement amounts, litigation costs, attorneys' fees, personnel time, and the like).
9. Copyright Infringement Notice (C&D) Procedure: A rights holder who asserts that their work has been improperly cited or reproduced in a report may notify the Company in accordance with the procedure set forth on the Copyright Policy page. Upon receiving the notice, the Company will block the relevant material from search results within 24 hours and reply with the outcome of its handling within 48 hours.

Article 9 (Feedback)

1. Members may submit suggestions, inquiries, comments, and the like regarding the Service through the feedback feature in the portal.
2. Feedback may be viewed only by the member and the Company, and is not disclosed to other members.
3. The Company may reply to feedback.

Article 10 (Limitation of Liability)

1. A report is reference material for sermon preparation and does not guarantee academic or theological completeness. The member bears responsibility for the results of any sermons and ministry activities based on a report's content.
2. The Company does not grant members access to the original databases of the academic materials used to produce a report.
3. The Company is not liable for any interruption of the Service due to force majeure, such as natural disasters or system failures.
4. The Company's total liability for damages arising from technical errors and the like occurring during use of the Service is limited to the amount paid for the report at issue. This limit does not apply, however, to the member's liability for damages arising from a violation of Article 8 (Copyright and Scope of Use).

Article 11 (Dispute Resolution)

1. Disputes relating to use of the Service shall, as a rule, be resolved through mutual consultation between the Company and the member.
2. If the parties fail to reach a resolution through consultation, the competent court shall be the court determined in accordance with the Civil Procedure Act.
3. These Terms shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.

Addendum (Amendment of August 28, 2026)

1. This amended version of the Terms takes effect on August 28, 2026, and applies immediately to members who begin a new recurring subscription on or after that date.
2. Transitional provision. For members whose recurring subscription was already active before the effective date, the fees, monthly request limits, and Weekend/Holiday Request Pass allowances of the previous version of the Terms continue to apply, and the amended Terms apply beginning with the first recurring charge (renewal) that falls 30 days or more after individual notice of this amendment is given. The conditions of any subscription cycle already paid for are guaranteed unchanged until that cycle ends.
3. Former Lite tier. The Lite tier is closed to new subscriptions. Existing Lite subscribers are converted to the Standard tier at the transition point described in paragraph 2; compensation and cancellation options related to this conversion follow the individual notice.
4. A member may, at their own election, switch to the amended Terms (the new pricing) before the transition point described in paragraph 2.

Addendum (Amendment of August 29, 2026)

1. This amendment takes effect on August 29, 2026.
2. Unused new-member benefits are provided as full Standard-grade reports. Unused referral benefits held by either the referring or referred member are converted to Core Edition report benefits.
3. Guest monthly free benefits and referral benefits submitted on or after the effective date are provided as Core Edition reports. Reports already submitted before the effective date and all paid single-report purchases remain unchanged.
4. The My Sermon Profile features (sermon library cap, application to outputs, repeat-passage detection, version comparison and tuning, sermon skeleton draft) are provided on a tier-differentiated basis as stated in Article 8. Sermon files already uploaded before the effective date in excess of a member's tier cap are not deleted; only additional uploads are limited. The sermon skeleton draft is a supporting outline based on the member's own profile and the completed report, not a finished sermon, and the member remains responsible for the final manuscript.

Addendum (Amendment announced September 6, 2026)

1. This amendment takes effect on September 13, 2026.
2. The amendment discloses the use of OpenAI Codex in addition to Anthropic Claude in report generation, evidence audit, and revision, and aligns the encryption description with the actual protection applied to free-text request content on every plan.

Addendum (Amendment announced September 14, 2026)

1. This amendment takes effect on September 22, 2026.
2. The Beta Founder discount (40%) is limited to the Premium and Prestige tiers. After the August 28, 2026 repricing lowered the Standard monthly fee to KRW 30,000, the 40%-discounted Standard price of KRW 18,000 falls below the cost of generating and auditing a single report, so every such sale would be made at a loss; the Beta Founder discount therefore no longer applies to the Standard tier.
3. (Transitional provision) The terms of any subscription cycle paid before the effective date are honored until that cycle ends. The amended terms apply from the first recurring payment (renewal) falling on or after the effective date; a Standard-tier Beta Founder will renew at the list price (KRW 30,000) or may switch to the Premium or Prestige tier to keep the discount. Beta Founder status itself is not forfeited and remains valid on the Premium and Prestige tiers for as long as the subscription is maintained.
4. This change is announced by posting on the Terms page seven days before the effective date and by individual e-mail notice to the affected Standard-tier Beta Founder members.
